Bus Registration & Transportation
The Green Vale School does not provide transportation. In accordance with Section 3635 of the Education Law, the public school districts cooperate with Green Vale parents in transporting children to and from school. This rule requires all non-city districts to provide transportation for pupils enrolled in Kindergarten - 8th Grade who live more than 2 miles from the school and up to a distance of 15 miles. The distances in each case are measured by the nearest available routes from home to school.
Parents must sign up with their local school districts each year by April 1st or within 30 days of moving to the district, in order to receive bus transportation for the following school year.
- If a child is to go home by car with another child, the homeroom teacher must have a note from home to this effect in the morning. Otherwise, the child will be expected to go on the bus, as usual.
- Routes and schedules are set by the school district. Parents should, therefore, confirm with their school district, the times of pick-up and drop-off.
- The school districts do not permit children of one district to ride home on buses of other districts, or any bus other than their own.
- Please notify us in writing of any change in transportation plans or early dismissals.
Good conduct on school buses is expected of Green Vale students and disciplinary steps will be taken for reported infractions. Issues related to bus travel should be brought to the School’s attention but Green Vale has no control over matters related to bus transportation.
